Abandoned places are usually not only exposed to the ravages of time, but unfortunately often also to the reckless vandalism of their visitors. As a photographer, I am all the more pleased when I get a place in front of my lens that has been abandoned for a long time and has been largely spared foreign interference. Otherwise, it certainly plays into the hands of the monochrome representation that the various graffiti on the walls of abandoned architecture, often discordant in their choice of colour, recede somewhat in their effect than would be the case with a colour photograph. Taken with my Nikon SLR and my Leica rangefinder camera, each with 35mm reportage fixed focal length.
